BirdieEyes is a mobile application for iOS and Android designed for golf players. Its main features include different game modes, a betting module, tee time booking, and maps of golf courses.
The app’s main aim is to connect players and golf courses in one space.
Challenge
The first step in the BirdieEyes' development was to create the app's UI/UX concept. Having successfully designed it, Frontbyte embarked on a full-cycle development process that included business analysis, UI/UX design, technical solutions design, coding, testing, and project and product management.
Solution
BirdieEyes was released on April 1, 2019. The original version allowed for entering the board of any connected golf club, viewing tee time schedule and booking a slot, playing a round, and saving the results. Using the built-in AR module, players who were physically present on the course could see additional course information through their smartphone cameras.
Since 2019, BirdieEyes has undergone a number of updates, adding new features and enhancing user experience. At the moment, the main features of the app are as follows.
Multiplayer
Players can enter the number of strokes that they needed to hit the hole manually, the app automatically calculates the rest
Various game modes
Detailed scorecards of all players, live leaderboard
Sending scores of games played on Norwegian golf courses to the GolfBox service (integration with their API) for handicap adjustment
BetsOnTee betting module
Available in all rounds
Tee time booking
Course maps
